GRANDE HALLE DE LA VILLETTE

La Grande Halle de La Villette is a flexible space welcoming numerous cultural activities, situated at the door of Marionette in the 19th district of Paris, at the very top of the avenue Jean Jaures on the verge of Paris and Marionette. It is situated between subway stations Door of the Villette and Door of Marionette, and very close to the Museum of Science and Industry which proposes numerous underground parking spaces. Registered on historic monuments since 1979, la Grande Halle de La Villette, built a century earlier served then as "Halle to oxen". It was indeed the biggest three rooms of the former historic slaughterhouses of the city of Paris. She was rehabilitated twice - in the 80s then in the 2000s - by the architects Bernard Reichen and Philippe Robert, but she kept her original location places of the fountain to the lions, at the heart of the Parc de La Villette. She is surrounded with numerous gardens fitted out for the public, and with 26 red madnesses spread on the Park during her creation, by the architect Bernard Tschumi. Become place of culture and multidisciplinary entertainment, la Grande Halle de La Villette welcomes numerous shows, for all the types of public. The programming established generally for a season, indeed proposes regularly several shows over the year of contemporary dance, circus, or magic, with recently "In the skin of a magician", but also shows harder to classify "as The Country of Nod" of FC Bergman, go out of dumping without words in a room of museum dedicated to Rubens, original show presented to the Festival of Avignon, and approved by a large majority by the public. Every year, several festivals invest Big hall, its studios and its balconies. "Jazz in the Villette" the beginning of September, the "Sound Villette" in May, or the "Pitchfork festival" every year the beginning of November. Every summer, for most great pleasure of the visitors, on the lawn of the triangle situated behind Big hall, you can attend at nightfall, in one film show outdoors, with the programming proposed by "The outdoor cinema". Lounges intended for the general public are regularly organized there. For several years the hall indeed welcomes the "Salon du Tatouage", "Art and Decoration", or "Live natural" salon dedicated to the organic farming. Big hall is accessible to the opening hours of the various events which are proposed there. Sheltered by the hall but in the independent schedules, we also find there a bookshop and a restoring coffee.
