
The Center Pompidou-Metz is a museum of modern and contemporary art situated in the city of Metz in the department of the Moselle. It is about the first experiment of decentralization of a Center of National Art, in this particular case Centre Pompidou in Paris. Since its opening in 2010, Centre Pompidou Metz became the Mecca of the tourism in Lorraine. The atypical architecture of the building is the work of two influences, the meeting of two worlds, two architects: French Jean de Gastines and Japanese Shigeru Ban. The Center does not possess permanent collection, but welcomes in its three galleries, temporary exhibitions, for a few weeks, for a season, or sometimes longer. The Center also proposes seminars and conferences, around the contemporary creation, and around the culture in a more general way. During the season 2017-2018, it is Japan which was put in the honor by the Contemporary Arts Center, under the theme " A Japanese season ". During several months, the visitors were indeed able to take advantage of three exhibitions and about ten shows which put forward the contemporary culture and the Japanese architecture. The first exhibition, "Japan-ness" was more particularly dedicated to six decades of town planning since Hiroshima. Big projects, sometimes stayed in the state of model were exposed to it, among whom Nakagin Capsule Tower de Kishô Kurokawa or wall for the peace drawn by Kenzo Tange for the city of Hiroshima. The visitors could also linger in front of a model of the key work of the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando. With " The adventure of the color ", its new big exhibition, Centre Pompidou Metz proposes from February, 2018 till July, 2019, a route in the discovery of about forty key works, paintings, sculptures or installations, belonging to the collection of the Centre Pompidou. Within the framework of this exhibition the small and big visitors are invited to participate in activities and workshops, a real cultural adventure to see the life in colors. For a few weeks only between April 28th and August 20th, 2018, do not miss the exhibition " modern Couples ", around the passion sometimes creative and sometimes destroyer of 40 couples of artists, officials or immigrants. Of the fusional passion of Sonia and Robert Delaunay in the passion collusive in Charles and Ray Eames, via(including) the famous love story, toxic and destructive, in Picasso and in the photographer Dora Maar.
